Paula James a CACFP CHANGEMAKER

Paula James was recognized at the NCA conference in San Diego last month with The CHANGEMAKER Award from the National Child Nutrition Foundation. The Changemaker award celebrates a CACFP community member whose masterful achievements in their role have directly benefited the CACFP community. 

The entire CACFP community knows of her ongoing work and contributions to the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Ms. James stated that she was "very honored to receive the recognition and looks forward to achieving more changes for the good of all in CACFP in the future."


Paula James, is the Director of the Contra Costa Child Care Council, Child Health and Nutrition Program. Working for over 30 years to improve the eating and activity environments in early care settings. Her program has developed tools to assist child care settings in assessing their nutrition and physical activity environments. Actively involved in advocacy for the Child and Adult Care Food Program and public policy efforts focused on prevention of childhood obesity. Paula serves on the board of the National Child and Adult Care Food Program Forum, she chairs the Child Care Food Program Roundtable Advisory Committee, serves on the Steering Committee of the CA Strategic Alliance. A member of the Paperwork Reduction Task Force and the USDA CACFP Technical Assistance Task Force. 

Her unwavering commitment, passion and continued efforts on behalf of Children, The Child and Adult Care Food Program, Sponsors, and Child Care Providers has earned respect and admiration from everyone in the field.  Join us in congratulating Paula James as she is recognized as a CACFP CHANGEMAKER.
